factory-built homes are solid and new

look. Except for their lower
cost, they are virtually indistinguishable from homes built on-site. They
use
similar 2x4 and 2x6 timber (16" on-center) construction, fiberglass
insulation, quality plywood, sheetrock & plaster, plumbing, asphalt shingle
roofs, vinyl siding, windows,
fixtures,
copper
wiring, etc. Since home-building factories purchase construction materials
in bulk, the lower cost gets passed along to you. However, our homes
must also meet much higher standards.
These homes are custom built in a factory where the construction
quality can be closely monitored and ensured by professional full-time
licensed builders, carpenters, plumbers and electricians. They are built in compliance
with federal, state and local building codes
and
must exceed
Federal
Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards – making them the
only homes in the U.S. built to a uniform nationwide code. HUD
revised the Code in the
1990s to require even higher energy efficiency and strength. And since
these homes are built inside a factory controlled environment (without
the
time delays
or damage imposed by rain and poor weather) factories can build higher
quality custom homes faster and for less money.
